Lead:
Jesus sends out the seventy-two, and Moses makes a point about being serious about following God on God’s terms.
Intro:
Do you know why I say I love you every single day? Because whether you realize it or not, your pastors need you at least as much — if not more — than you need them. I don’t get to give of my gifts without you, just like the people you serve enable you to give of yourself. So thank you for your prayer, encouragement, support, friendship.
And wherever you are at, may I encourage you that, like John puts it in 1 Jn 4, greater is he that is in you than he who is in the world. Seminary doesn’t make the person, God does. You are right here and now for a reason, even if what we do sometimes is sit at Jesus’ feet and listen, even if we don’t understand it all, even if you feel like there’s not much you can do as you’re quarantined in a temporary box you call home.
One reminder as we get rolling…because our reading plan is a bit long right now, and because lots more of us are working at home, I’m going to go just a smidge longer than the target 25-27 minutes. So let’s do it.
