Blessings and curses…useful for us today?
Intro:
Hey all, happy Friday in another week that may go down in history. The world is quarantined, the interwebs are pushed to the breaking point, and there is hope!
In Deuteronomy we’re just getting rolling with Moses’ third sermon of the book. And as you’ll heart, there are a long list of blessings and curses, but remember that at that time God had a covenant with a nation (which he no longer does now in a New Covenant context). But it’s good reminder that, while our souls had a beginning (conception), they don’t have an ending…and eternal destinies are dependent upon our relationship with God.
What I find interesting is that Moses is already talking about when the people of Israel will fail…not if. And that, too, is a reminder…we are bent away from God from birth and need his faithfulness and action to fix it.
