Lede:

Three reminders of God’s sovereignty.

Intro:

A couple days ago we very briefly looked at the phrase “day of the Lord” because Paul referred to it late in 1 Thessalonians. Today he refers to it for the same reason. Remember that in the Old Testament this phrase, or often the reference ‘on that day,’ referred basically to the time when God reveals his sovereignty over all. And it was the New Testament writers who introduced the nuance of it being an end-times thing. So remember that for the Thessalonians, one issue was some were falsely teaching that it was already here and therefore some people were slacking.
