Focus Question:

When does Jesus deliver justice?

Intro:

So Jesus is rolling into Jerusalem, and he is hot property. And I love a line at the end of Matthew 21 that I’ll point out to you when we get there.

But today’s OT and Wisdom segments both speak to justice again and, unlike most days where the focus question is about something we bump into in the text, today’s a bigger picture view, because it’s important to remember. When does Jesus deliver justice? We’ll tackle that very briefly at the end of today.

New Testament segment:

Passage: Matthew 21
Translation: CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Verses: 46
Words: ~972

<you’ll just have to listen here today>

Old Testament segment:

Passage: Isaiah 11-12
Translation: CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Verses: 22
Words: ~600

Wisdom segment:

Passage: Psalm 9-10
Translation: CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
Verses: 38
Words: ~624

The bottom line:

Is God concerned with people who abuse power? Oh, you bet He is. And what’s the promise of the Messiah? Setting all things right. But what’s the difference between Jesus’ first coming and second coming?

The first? The offer of grace. The second? Well…
