And even more kings, messes, and lessons.

Intro:

Hey, sorry that yesterday went a little long. I accidentally kept reading and included an extra chapter. That’ll give us some breathing room today, so we’ll squeeze in Psalm 68 which is a little longer.

Remember that yesterday we saw the results of why God had warned the Israelites to avoid political alliances and trust Him — even kings who did a lot of stuff right like Jehoshaphat (and Solomon, too, much earlier) then were persuaded to be idiots. One comment: I think it might be tempting for some people to want to do the same in their lives and play fortress church (keep the bad people out and the good people in). But that’s not what most of us who are filled with the Holy Spirit are called to — yes if someone is weak, yes if we’re protecting our children in a season of their lives, but we, like these kings of old, are really called to trust God. Wish I had more time to expound on that.

No word-of-the-day today, so let’s just get to it.
