Have you ever experienced what it’s like to have someone who is in authority over you fail as a person but not as a spiritual leader? Today, reflection, reminder, and hope.
Intro:
Have you ever experienced what it’s like to have someone who is in authority over you fail as a person but not as a spiritual leader? I have, but I don’t ever think I thought of that experience as profound. That changed today. And in our All Our Minds segment I want to reflect a little on why, because I think it’s something that could be helpful to someone listening today…something I’m going to call “grace up.”
Hey, as I mentioned yesterday, the video from The Bible Project for the book of Colossians I reeeally encourage you to check out. Today’s show number is 948, and you can find the video down at the bottom.
Yesterday we the familiar theme of Paul warning a church to beware of wolves inside the church preaching a different gospel. Today we wrap that up with the payload of his argument which, as is typical for Paul, shifts from talking about the situation and the true gospel to exhortations about what it means to live like we ought to in Christ.

Not used today, but stuff I like:
D. A. Carson, For the Love of God: A Daily Companion for Discovering the Riches of God’s Word., vol. 1 (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Books, 1998).
Craig S. Keener, The IVP Bible Background Commentary: New Testament (Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 1993). <—this, and it’s OT companion, are great commentaries if you like something more than a study Bible and less than a set of 66 books — they add a lot of interesting details. Keener’s a killer apologist, too.
The Story of Reality, Greg Koukl — Love this book. A killer intro to the Christian worldview that is philosophically and theologically sound while being accessible to all readers.
