Thanksgiving is coming — a great time for conflict! Today we’ve got some nuggets about how to approach it from God’s point of view.
Intro:
Confession time! Today is awesome! And it’s going to be awesome for you, too!
I’ve got a lifelong history of lucky days. It’s a joke, of course, and it’s probably my own confirmation bias, but I always — and I mean always — expect good things on Friday the 13ths and on the 21st of any month. So while this episode won’t publish ‘til the 22nd, I’m recording it on the 21st and it’s already awesome. And it’s not even 7 am and my brain is exploding. Stay tuned for more.
Today we head into Paul’s first letter to some young punk named Timothy. It’s the first of three “pastoral epistles” that includes his second letter to Timmy and other to Titus. You’ll hear some familiar themes, a lot of ‘how you should live’ stuff, the passages that churches use when considering the qualifications of leaders, and even more warnings about false teachers. Paul pounds the crap out of that theme, and probably for good reason.
Then in today’s All Our Mind’s segment I’ve got some nuggets for you that are flat-out relational about dealing with the little junk that creeps into relationship — something we all need, and it’s good stuff. Then we’ll wrap with the next chunk of Proverbs that includes my all-time favorite.
