Lead:
How was slavery in the New Testament different than how most of us think about slavery?
Intro:
You may have heard a pastor or teacher say something in passing like, “Slavery in the Bible isn’t what we tend to think of it as in the modern world.” Well, today’s little book of Philemon is short, about a slave, and a good time to look at one angle of that slavery thing. It’s a good thing for us to remember, so I hope you’ll hang with me for today’s All Our Minds episode.
A couple little housekeeping items before we read. For those of you who subscribe to the email that drops every day with a link to the program that sometime in the next week I’m going to change that to a weekly email. So if you want a daily notification you’ll want to subscribe to the podcast in a Apple or Google Podcasts, Spotify, or whatever podcatcher you use.
The second point is simply that today we read the one-chapter book of Philemon. As always, this means there is a corresponding video from The Bible Project…just go to forthehope.org and find #957.
