Jesus isn’t just the High Priest of a better covenant, but He inaugurates a new covenant, too.
Intro:
Hey friends, welcome to day one of Advent for 2019!
Advent, as you probably know, means “arrival,” and as I mentioned yesterday, I’m going to do something a little different this year…I’ve split the podcast into two parts, our conversational Bible reading which you’re listening to right now, and a daily Advent reading that will run ‘til Christmas. If you subscribe on a podcast app or via email, you’ll get those automagically. Otherwise you can go to forthehope.org and you’ll see a link at the top called Advent 2019 where I’ll post ‘em all on a single page.
That said, yesterday we heard the writer talk journey through some heady Old Testament theology as part of his proof that Jesus is the new and final and permanent high priest. Today we continue through, and wrap up, that section of his argument that Jesus isn’t only the high priest of the new covenant, He inaugurates a new covenant that Jeremiah foretold six centuries prior.
