When you think the word “argument,” what do you think of? How should Christians think of it?
Intro:
When you think the word “argument,” what do you think of?
Often in today’s world that is perceived negatively, meaning “argumentative.” But in the truest sense it also means providing a reason or set of reasons in an attempt to persuade. You hear this term used in mathematics and logic. And one thing I’d argue (I am arguing) is that we as Christian casemakers are supposed to give reasons for what we believe and contend for the truth claims of Christianity. Making a case, however, is to be done with gentleness and respect, which is different than being argumentative.
Today we finish up Exodus and begin Hebrews which, interestingly enough, begins with an argument. We’ll talk a little more about that when we get there.
