Lead:

Connecting the old and new testaments can be a blessing even when you don’t understand it all.

Intro:

As you’ve heard me say nearly every day as we read through Hebrews, the writer is laying out an argument. And the sweet thing is that we’ve been seeing where he’s going with that argument. Because Jesus is superior to all, the great high priest of a new and better covenant who is sympathetic and full of grace, we will find four things to be true:

we can and should draw near to Him in worship (10:19–25), live by faith (11:1–40), persevere to the end (12:1–29), and live a life of love (13:1–25).(1)

To me, this sheds a lot of awesomeness on reading Old Testament stuff that may not be so readily accessible. We know it’s connected, we know Jesus is the dude, but most importantly, we don’t have to have it all figured out to trust Him, bring our doubts and questions to Him, and to confidently go love on people today.
