Focus Question:
IF God could create something out of nothing, then…
Intro:
Today’s main focus question is prompted by where we’re going in today’s OT segment…the book of Jonah…and I’m going to actually just leave you with it at the end — because you should be prepared to ask others this question. Before we get there, of course, we’ve got Matthew 8 for our NT segment today, and maybe we just make today a double-header in terms of focus questions. You see, Matthew 8 & 9 is based around a collection of miracle stories, and as Matthew does characteristically, he quotes the OT to demonstrate that Jesus was the promised Messiah. So there is something that underlies all of this…Is Jesus God?

The bottom line:
The simple question is this:
IF God could create the universe out of nothing, isn’t anything else possible? Like somehow there was a fish big enough to swallow a man who had air in his stomach so the dude could breathe?
6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Heb 11:6, CSB
