Lead:
Why would the apostles be martyred instead of recanting their confession that Jesus is Lord?
Intro:
Part of what makes you a good witness for Christ is the use of reason. That’s why it’s one of the things we focus on in our All Our Minds segment here.
Today, however, we’re in a season where I’m splitting the podcast into two separate, shorter chunks, trading that section for a daily advent reading that you’ll also receive if you subscribe. Or you can find a link to the whole series at the top of forthehope.org.
In today’s Bible reading, however, we’re going to hear the answer to one of the most powerful questions any Christian casemaker can use, and while I’m not going to do a whole segment on it, I’ll point it out as we go.
The question?
Why would the apostles be martyred instead of recanting their confession that Jesus is Lord?
Yesterday’s reading reminded us that Jesus is not only the new High Priest, He’s the perfect and permanent one. Today we hear about how this should affect us, and we’ll talk a little more about that when we wrap up the book of Hebrews tomorrow.
